I turn 44 this Sunday, and it’s my mom’s birthday too! I’ve always liked sharing my birthday with my mom (in Type A, Virgo fashion I was born on my due date), but when I think back to almost sharing my son’s birthday with my wedding anniversary I don’t think her enthusiasm matches mine.
Honestly, I feel like I’m still waiting to turn 40 from 2020 which of course, had many plans upended that year. Last year was a good do-over though! Last year we both ended up in Las Vegas, not planned intentionally, but it was fun to cross paths there. This year, my birthday is a hodgepodge of events thanks to my husband, a longtime friend and some self-care I’ve gifted myself.
I also saw the news today that Substack launched live video, and I’m cautiously optimistic as an alternative to the algorithm-centric Meta platforms which hide so much content. I appreciate that here on Substack, those I follow actually show up in real time on my feed, not 3 or 4 days delayed/hidden/buried. I went live recently on Instagram for an FAQ for my quarterly retreats I host on Cape Cod (more info here on my October “Creating Your Personal Brand” retreat if you’d like to join me!), and the reach was abysmal, so I’m thinking I should test out Substack live this Sunday for my birthday.
Stay tuned…
