Black in Boston
I entered this month quietly online and loud offline. Showing up on the ground for those in need is what this Black History Month in Boston means to me.
Today I’m sharing a round-up of what that means, so if you’re local, join me or if not, use this to seek out similar ways to engage in your community:
Shopping Black-owned businesses - I especially love Emerald City Plant Shop and Canvas Studio:
Massachusetts has so much history and this upcoming free, transcribe-a-thon event at the Forbes House Museum in Milton on February 13 sounds interesting:
I’ve mentioned Priya Parker before and she’s inspiring me this month to revisit my annual Galentine’s Day gatherings, and I’m gearing up for a mini-one that’s a Favorite Things party/Trader Joe’s tasting. Totally casual but I’m looking forward to it as a pick-me-up - it’s also a good excuse to dress festive!:
I’ve also been reading a lot and prepping for a couple book clubs I’m leading including this virtual one next month on March 3 (sign up here):
Finally, Black in Boston also means finding time to play despite the cold weather - just embrace it! Gather some friends and hit up glow tubing in the Blue Hills:
